Natural Vs Lab
When choosing which direction to go in always consider these elements:
Diamonds have a colour and clarity scale the higher the grade the rarer the diamond and more expensive the price. Lab grown diamonds, often have very high colour and clarity grading but are only a fraction of the price of natural diamonds. Natural diamonds are often more sought after due to their rarity and the fact their resale value stays relatively high.
White Gold Vs Platinum?
whether you choose white gold or platinum is completely based on person preference and lifestyle. something to consider when making a decision would be if you have another ring or piece of jewellery, you frequently wear? if so, it is always recommended to match metals.
for example: if you have an engagement ring in a 9ct white gold it is always best to match your wedding bands metal. If you were to choose platinum, it is a stronger more durable metal (as it is pure not an alloy) so the two metals will rub and over time the platinum would tarnish the white gold. the same thing would occur if you chose two different karat golds 9ct is more durable so would tarnish an 18 or 24k gold
If you work with your hands a lot the ring would need to be durable to avoid damage so a softer metal like an 18k white gold would ideally be avoided.
lastly value is something to consider, white gold commonly has a high value and is in high demand due to it being a treated metal that isn't found naturally. platinum is also a high demand metal compared to most. The value of all metals fluctuates rapidly so value is something to consider and will affect cost and market prices.
